IMPORTANT-SAFETY FIRST!
Fast Facts can be used as a guide to a dog's temperament, however every dog is an individual and will react to different situations in a unique manner. Although we do our best to evaluate a dog's temperament, we have not seen every dog in every possible situation. Please approach any unfamiliar dog with caution, particularly when you have children with you. Always ask an adoption counselor for guidance when interacting with dogs at adoption events or handlers for guidance with dogs in any situation, anywhere. Remember, safety first!

Asher
Born February 28, 2009, Asher is our little little survivor! He had a very rough patch when he was a baby, and his family turned him in to SCGSR because he had a rare immune response called "puppy strangles." Puppy strangles can be fatal if left untreated, but as you can see Asher is alive and kickin!

This little man is charming and mischeivious all at once, he will always greet you with a wagging tail and even occasionally a small kiss, he loves to play ball and is positively wacky for water at least in the form of a hose, he walks well alone on leash but can get excited by passing dogs. Asher is great at letting you know if someone is at your front door or nearby. Asher gets along well with other dogs. He can be a rambunctious boy so not recommended for a family with small children or small dogs.

Asher's waiting patiently for his loving forever home.

  • If you would like to meet Asher, please fill out our online application. This is the starting point in adopting from SCGSR. We strive to keep our website current within 24 hours. If you see a dog on our site, it is most likely available. The more information you give us about your dog experience, your home, your fence, children and other pets, the better we can do to match you with one of our dogs. Keep in mind that we may be working with prior applicants.

  • Our adoption donations are tax deductible and range from $300 to $500. Dogs will be spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations, and in most instances they will be microchipped. To those big hearted people willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems, we will work with you on adoption donation amounts.

  • The adoption process involves an application, a telephone interview, a meeting with our dogs and then a home and fence check. In certain cases photos of your house and yard may be substituted for a home check.
