Baby
We received a tearful plea from a shelter to save Baby and Angel. These two year old girls were found in their home with their deceased owner. They were taken to the shelter and were in danger of being euthanized until SCGSR stepped in to save them. These lovely girls are very quiet and polite, crate and house trained, they're good with other dogs and so bonded to each other we would like to place them together in the same home. Both girls, upon arriving in their foster home, tucked their heads under their foster mom's arms, one on each side, while they were comforted. SCGSR has promised them they'll find a loving home so they can put their ordeal behind them.
If you would like to meet Angel and Baby, please fill out our online application. This is the starting point in adopting from SCGSR. We strive to keep our website current within 24 hours. If you see a dog on our site, it is most likely available. The more information you give us about your dog experience, your home, your fence, children and other pets, the better we can do to match you with one of our dogs. Keep in mind that we may be working with prior applicants.
Our adoption donations are tax deductible and range from $300 to $500. Dogs will be spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations, and in most instances they will be microchipped. To those big hearted people willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems, we will work with you on adoption donation amounts.
The adoption process involves an application, a telephone interview, a meeting with our dogs and then a home and fence check. In certain cases photos of your house and yard may be substituted for a home check.

Baby at the shelter. So scary!

4.23.08: Angel and Baby are safe! SCGSR went to great lengths to save these girls, and we want to thank our supporters and volunteers who helped. The girls are now clean and fed and sleeping comfortably together at night, awaiting that special family we know is out there to love them and help them forget their sad past. Just look at them now!
4.21.08: Angel and Baby need your help!
We received a plea to help Angel and Baby. Their owner passed away and the dogs stayed with him until police found the man. A shelter worker called and had to stop mid-sentence to get herself together, she was fighting tears and said she couldn’t put these sweet shepherds down. These two year old girls are happy and inseparable, and are sweet to people and dogs. They are polite and submissive, they are healthy, and they adore each other. SCGSR has committed to helping these girls, even though they are far from San Diego, but we need help from you, our supporters. Times are lean for everyone and we have not been able to help as many dogs, but we just couldn't say no to Angel and Baby. We need donations to pay for their boarding, transport and care, but most of all we need a kind and loving foster home where they can recover from their ordeal. It would be so sad to keep them in a kennel after what they've been through. Please contact us right away if you can help, or make a donation now!
