IMPORTANT-SAFETY FIRST!
Fast Facts can be used as a guide to a dog's temperament, however every dog is an individual and will react to different situations in a unique manner. Although we do our best to evaluate a dog's temperament, we have not seen every dog in every possible situation. Please approach any unfamiliar dog with caution, particularly when you have children with you. Always ask an adoption counselor for guidance when interacting with dogs at adoption events or handlers for guidance with dogs in any situation, anywhere. Remember, safety first!

Codger
Codger is a handsome eight year old boy who nearly lost his life in the shelter because of his age. SCGSR stepped up to the plate to save him, and we're glad we did. Codger is in foster care with another dog and a cat, and his foster mom says he's a content, low maintenance kind of guy!

Codger is a happy dog who loves to play ball, and he has one in his mouth ALL of the time. He loves to go on walks and walks well on leash. He is not a watch dog regarding people but he takes note of other dogs. He loves to roll around on his pillow and make happy sounds. He loves to be in the house or outdoors equally. He loves his foster brother Yeager and the cat, but isn't too thrilled about new dogs. He does get used to them with time though.

Codger is housebroken and has never an accident in his foster home. He's be great with all the kids he's met. Codger walks very well on a leash, rides well in the car and knows how to sit for treats. He loves to be brushed and tolerates his baths, even allowing his nails to be trimmed. He is good at taking medicine when necessary!

Codger is a nice "mature" guy who can live with other pets, but he would love to find himself a sedate environment where he can go for walks, play ball, nap on a nice soft bed and get the loving from a family he's waited so long to find!

  • If you would like to meet Codger, please fill out our online application. This is the starting point in adopting from SCGSR. We strive to keep our website current within 24 hours. If you see a dog on our site, it is most likely available. The more information you give us about your dog experience, your home, your fence, children and other pets, the better we can do to match you with one of our dogs. Keep in mind that we may be working with prior applicants.

  • Our adoption donations are tax deductible and range from $300 to $500. Dogs will be spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations, and in most instances they will be microchipped. To those big hearted people willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems, we will work with you on adoption donation amounts.

  • The adoption process involves an application, a telephone interview, a meeting with our dogs and then a home and fence check. In certain cases photos of your house and yard may be substituted for a home check.
