IMPORTANT-SAFETY FIRST!
Fast Facts can be used as a guide to a dog's temperament, however every dog is an individual and will react to different situations in a unique manner. Although we do our best to evaluate a dog's temperament, we have not seen every dog in every possible situation. Please approach any unfamiliar dog with caution, particularly when you have children with you. Always ask an adoption counselor for guidance when interacting with dogs at adoption events or handlers for guidance with dogs in any situation, anywhere. Remember, safety first!

Cody
Cody is a
beautiful, exotic looking young (around 18 month) German Shepherd with probably a small mix of a Northern breed. He loves people, seems
great with young children, and has energy galore. Cody travels very
well in a car, walks well on a leash, is easily trainable, but has a
small independent streak which must be recognized. Cody only barks
when necessary, and has a certain something about him that people just
can't resist. Cody currently has an unfriendly attitude towards
strange dogs so care must be taken to not allow him to mix freely with
other dogs until he proves that he will mind his manners. Proper
positive reinforcement training will be required to change this
behavior over time. The ideal home for Cody would have a large fenced
area without other dogs or cats, and with children ages twelve and up
or active adults who can romp and play and give Cody the exercise he
needs to be healthy and happy. Cody can also jump so a high fence is a
must. If you can provide these essentials, Cody will reward you with
his loyalty and love. And believe us, you will get compliments
everywhere you take him.
If you would like to meet Cody, please fill out our online application. This is the starting point in adopting from SCGSR. We strive to keep our website current within 24 hours. If you see a dog on our site, it is most likely available. The more information you give us about your dog experience, your home, your fence, children and other pets, the better we can do to match you with one of our dogs. Keep in mind that we may be working with prior applicants.
Our adoption donations are tax deductible and range from $300 to $500. Dogs will be spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations, and in most instances they will be microchipped. To those big hearted people willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems, we will work with you on adoption donation amounts.
The adoption process involves an application, a telephone interview, a meeting with our dogs and then a home and fence check. In certain cases photos of your house and yard may be substituted for a home check.
