 Gertie
Approximately three to four years old, beautiful Gertie lost her home along with several other dogs. She waited in a shelter for six weeks for her owner to relinquish her. Like most German Shepherds, Gertie didn't thrive in the shelter. She refused most food and was losing weight.
Just as soon as they could legally do so, the shelter called SCGSR to come to Gertie's rescue. Gertie wants to melt into you when you pet her, she just has to be touching you. And she also loves to play and will try to engage you in play. She gets along fine with other dogs although she's a bit frightened at first. She spent about 10 minutes in her foster home just nuzzling into a big soft dog bed, amusing everyone. Gertie's been in her foster home about 1 hour, already we adore her! The top photo is Gertie's "jailhouse" photo. She's very pretty and a good sized girl.
Although Gertie gets along with other dogs and cats, she becomes possessive of her people and she prefers to live in a home where she doesn't have to compete for her people's attention.
