2.10.08: Kayla II with her kids. Kayla was just a baby when SCGSR found her in a scary, high kill shelter. Kaya's is truely a happy tail, she is part of Vader's (pictured below) extended family!

Nancy,
Here is a picture of Brendan (10), Kayla and Kate (6). Kayla has now been spayed (3 weeks ago) and is doing quite well. She is an angel with the kids and often gets to play with the other dogs in our extended family, including Duffy’s Buddy. She has a very sweet disposition and likes to sleep in her crate with the door open. She enjoys chasing birds, bunnies and other wildlife first thing in the morning.
Warmest regards,
-Darrell, Mary, Brenda and Kate

2.8.08: Vader (formerly "Buddy") with his BFF Zeus! Vader is living the best life ever with the Daugherty family.

Not long ago, after the California fires, my family adopted a goofy pup from your rescue, you may know him as Buddy. Buddy(now Vader) is DEFINITELY special. Now I'll admit, I'm only 13, but I know special when I see it (and I see Vader a lot:) For awhile he was shy. He hid during the day only coming out to eat. Then, one night I woke up, and Vader had his nose on the foot of my bed, he was watching me. I invited him up and I couldn't believe it, he got up! He'd never been so cuddlie. After that he became the (almost) perfect dog. JK. Now he plays with us, sleeps with us, eats with (next to) us.
To be honest, he doesn't leave us alone! But what do you expect from a dog with his first kids/family/house/yard/favorite chew toy?
Thank you sooo much for your kindness and compassion-
Maddy Daugherty

1.27.08: Rayne - Now Ranier! Ranier is ecstatic in his new home with the Pownell family!

1.27.08: Thor at 15 weeks! Daphne's puppy Thor (aka Zeus) is growing up happy with the Wheeler family!

1.2.08:
Tabitha, now Xenia, happy in her forever home with her buddy Orban!

12.14.07:
Sasha Happy! SCGSR's first Husky rescue delighting in her home!

12.19.07:
Zeus, now Thor, goes home! Daphne's baby is home with
Andrew and Emily! Visit Andrew's website at automotophoto!

12.10.07:
Baron von Geronimo goes home! Baron is the first of Daphnie's puppies to get a wonderful home with new mom Donna!

11.12.07: Onyx (formly "Dean" of the Rat Pack) at home with the Beltz family!

10.14.07: Rocky, happy at last!
Our Rocky, adopted as a puppy from the shelter and returned two years later to be euthanized because of an inexpensive and easily controlled eye disease common to shepherds: pannus. Rocky is now a happy boy, well loved and well taken care of thanks to concerned shelter workers, great SCGSR foster families and Rocky's new family, Cindy and Gene Deggendorf.

11.7.07: Ben lounging around in heaven!
Beautiful Ben found himself in a really bad shelter at 5 months old. SCGSR committed to helping Ben thinking he was an adult. It turned our our Ben was a pure bred tatooed puppy. How Ben ended up in the shelter we'll never know. What we do know is how he ended up with Andre and Lisa and Warro, and that Ben couldn't possibly have had a happier ending!

Simon: clean, shiny, well fed and most of all: Happy!
Our gorgeous, calm and well mannered Simon has found the best new mom in Linda. Simon was "adopted" then his adoption was canceled at the shelter because his adopters found another dog they liked better. They didn't know what a prize they had in Simon. The shelter called SCGSR to help Simon and we jumped right in. Linda saw Simon our our website and knew right away what a special dog he was! Simon's doing his part in his new home by ignoring his new cat (who wasn't exactly excited to see Simon) and we know they'll soon be friends. Linda is doing her part by adminstering loving care. We are so thrilled for Simon and Linda, this is the reason we rescue!

Tessa relaxing on her lawn!
Beautiful Tessa now has a large family to love her!
Becky and Marcy,
As of this morning (9.15.07), Tessa's mastered the stairs. Yeah.
Soon, I'll take a good family pic. The family pics I took this morning are too dark because we were in the shade under the patio.
Mariah, Emily, Dane, and Kate are all crazy about her. They invited 3 additional neighbor kids over yesterday, so Tessa's been soaking up all the attention.
Grandma and Grampa melted when they saw her. She's so similiar to their previous "Katie", but Tessa's even sweeter. Can you tell I'm partial to her?
I have a work friend who's on his way to meet her this minute.
Thanks, Steve

Seeger in his pool! Pictures from Seeger's Mom 9.6.07

Seeger is doing really well. He is so smart and sweet and we just adore him.
I think he is starting to settle in quite nicely. Rick took him into the
bank with him yesterday and they were all just oohing and aahing about what
a handsome boy he is. He has put some weight on and is filling out
beautifully. He has quite the appetite! Nothing wrong there - he is not
finicky like Sojourn.
We kept his name as Seeger, and call him St. Seeger sometimes. I think he is
starting to figure out that is his name. He is sitting on command and is
getting much better at staying. Today was the first day he did "shake" - at
least once. That is one thing he hasn't picked up yet. Too funny.
He is so extraordinarily handsome - he is all boy. Your description of him on your website really captures his essence. I could never say it more eloquently than how you put it. I just love to stare at him. And what a beautiful temperament. He loves to prance in the water but that's about it.
Thank you so much - it's a pleasure to meet you and get to know you.
Darby

Kayla (now named Maya) becomes a Canadian!.
On Thursday, September 6, 2007, we put Kayla on an Alaskan Airlines flight to Seattle. Her new mom Barbara was waiting for her arrival. Kayla acted like a seasoned traveller, got out of the crate very relaxed and gave her new mom a kiss. Apparently we were all more worried than Kayla was!! Next came a long drive across the border, a stay in a hotel, then a ferry ride to her new home on an island in British Columbia where she'll be spending her time with mom, dad and her two sisters hiking and watching eagles fly. Take us with you Kayla!

A happy ending for a hurt puppy.
Gorgeous little Emma came to us with a broken leg. Only by luck did we see her at the shelter the day we were there. Thanks to our wonderful vet, Dr. Tugend, Emma is able to grow and lead a normal life. Now, here's a note from Emma's new mom:
Dear Marcy
Well, we were right. Emma weighed 38lbs when she had the surgery (June 2007), and now she weighs 58lbs (August 22, 2007). Can you believe it!
The doctor didn’t even recognize her until she turned around and he saw the shaved spot. After talking to him, I realized how lucky she is to have come out of it so well. All I can say to you is well done. Another rescue success story. She’s so lucky you found her as are all your dogs. I’ll keep in touch. Mindy

Homecoming: two scary rides have a happy ending.
Who doesn't remember Sierra? We had over 30 applications for Sierra, the free best dora game
perfectly perfect dog rescued from certain death in an inland shelter. Sierra's dad, Michael, was fighting for all of us in Iraq when her mom, Suzanne, adopted her. We've never adopted to a family without the dog meeting each family member personally and we had our doubts. We want to be sure our dogs will be loved. But Michael wrote to us from Iraq. He had 153 days left in his tour, and he wanted Sierra to be there when he got home. Suzanne knew Michael would love Sierra. She had dog beds all around the house, and was willing to learn about raw feeding (Sierra's only choice for nourishment at the time). Today as you can see, both Michael and Sierra are home, and the love and comfort is mutual. Sierra runs every morning with her mom, and gets her cuddling every night with her dad. This is the happy ending that keeps us rescuing.
