02.14.09: Gidget, now known as Jessie with her new mom and at the beach. No four month old puppy could wish for a better home. Jessie found herself in the shelter before she was even old enough to be separated from her litter. With kindness and a lot of love, Jessie now has no idea she got off to a rough start - life is perfect!

01.20.09: Shadow, aka Summer. In fond memory of the Stone family's precious adopted girl, Shadow. Left at the shelter by a family who was moving, Shadow was a mature girl when she was adopted by the Stone family in early 2007. She lived the last part of her life basking in the love of a doting family. Shadow was a lucky girl, her story is the kind of story that keeps us rescuing. Our hearts go out to Shadow's family, and we are so grateful to them for giving her the best years of her life.
A note from Shadow's family:
She will remain in our hearts as the best dog we ever had. Her name surely fit, she was always right by your side, or greeting you at the door, tail wagging, waiting to go out back and chase tennis balls. She was a serious ball hog! The only way to get her to give it up was to throw another one and then she would try and stuff as many in her mouth as she could. Shadow would not give up her beloved balls even for treats!
We will never forget her caring nature. We remember the first night we had her. We were putting our youngest son to bed and he was crying and upset that it was bedtime. John and I sat next to each other on the floor next to the bed, Shadow came in and pushed her way between us and put her front paws up on the bed. She looked at my son, then looked at me and then looked at John as if to say, "Why is this child crying?" She stayed there for a few minutes to make sure everything was okay. We knew then she would be a great dog.
When the time is right and we are ready for a new dog, we will keep SCGSR in our minds. We have fallen in love with the German Shepherd breed.

01.09.09: Timber, finally safe and happy at home with the Pebdani family!
Happy New Year! Tango (Myles) is doing just GREAT. Tango even put up with our in-law's Jack Russel over Christmas and
was very kind to her. We are working on his training and he is so willing to learn and loves to feel he's doing the right thing. I have been taking him on 4-mile runs and after the first few, he has learned to keep his head up, keep the pace, and just jogs right along--even with the distractions of other dogs and people. It's like he just KNOWS that it's not the time or place for an interruption!
He can also apparently keep time...he wakes my husband up ON TIME in the morning with kisses, he sits down by his bowl and stares at me when it's time for dinner, and then heads on up the stairs when he's ready to go to bed.
He has such a sweet personality and loves to puppy play, but has never been too rough with anyone, especially the kids.
We just love him and wanted to thank you again for being his "angel." Here are a few pics for you.....

nibble on the kitty ! He has not bothered the Christmas tree (yet)!

Dakota and family. 10.16.08: Dakota with her new family. Watch her whistle training video!
Dear Marcy,
We can’t thank you enough for suggesting a visit to go see Dakota. As you know or beloved dog Donovan passed away last year at only 8 years old and it was a real hard time for our entire family. We finally made the decision to start looking at dogs again and we had a couple we were keeping an eye on, Hank & Yukon. After you took us out to see Dakota, we knew right then that Dakota was meant for us. We’ve had Dakota now a total of 6 days so far and she is indeed the perfect match for our family. She is very sweet, very loving, very smart and just an all around awesome girl! Thanks again for introducing us to Dakota and making our family complete again. I’ve said this to several people, “If God couldn’t bring back Donovan to us, he sent us the next best thing”!

8.2.08: Sunny, now named Angel. Our good girl finally gets the home of her dreams!
Hello Christine, Mark, and Marcy,
Just wanted to tell you how well we are doing! Sunny's been such a wonderful addition to our family. Thank you again for all your hard work; your selfless efforts have made this transition an extremely smooth one! She loves her new backyard, already is good pals with a 110# GSD named Samson, and also a 15+ member sign language choir (she was invited to join us at practice in a RB church last night; they all loved her!).
And gotta tell you that we are changing her name to ----- Angel! Because she is, and responds to the name so easily. Hope you don't mind :c)
