Higgins
Hi, my name is Higgins! I'm an adorable 13 month old German Shepherd with maybe a teeny bit of something else. I'm happy, I love other dogs, and I would love to spend my time with you. I was adopted from the shelter as a little bitty cute puppy, but once I grew up my family didn't have time for me anymore. There I was in the back yard with nothing to do, then all of a sudden I was back at the shelter! My foster mom says my old family has no idea what a great dog they gave up, and that I was extra lucky to make it out of that shelter twice. I didn't even know I should have been worried!

She said I ride in the car and take treats really nice, and I was quiet in my crate all night. I'm so happy now because I get to come inside the house, and I make extra special efforts to be a really good boy. I'm still learning to walk on the kitchen floor, its so darn slippery, but this morning I made it all the way to my food bowl!

Please adopt me and love me forever, I'll promise to love you and be a good dog! My foster mom will take better pictures of me soon, and you'll see I'm handsome too, if I don't say so myself!

  • If you would like to meet Higgins, please fill out our online application. This is the starting point in adopting from SCGSR. We strive to keep our website current within 24 hours. If you see a dog on our site, it is most likely available. The more information you give us about your dog experience, your home, your fence, children and other pets, the better we can do to match you with one of our dogs. Keep in mind that we may be working with prior applicants.

  • Our adoption donations are tax deductible and range from $300 to $500. Dogs will be spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations, and in most instances they will be microchipped. To those big hearted people willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems, we will work with you on adoption donation amounts.

  • The adoption process involves an application, a telephone interview, a meeting with our dogs and then a home and fence check. In certain cases photos of your house and yard may be substituted for a home check.

  • This is me at the shelter for the second time! See, I don't know what's going on and I'm a little nervous!
