Kiefer

My name is Kiefer. I share my foster home with three other dogs and get along with them all, even though I can be a little bossy sometimes. I know my commands and have very good manners in the house. My legs go wild when I get tummy rubs. I just can't help it because I love them so much. My family is very important and I am very protective. I guard the perimeter closely. When unfamiliar people come into the house, I warn them not to mess with my people. I'm the same way on walks. Since I love my people so much, I'm leery of dogs or people approaching unexpectedly. I'm a really great dog and want a home with people who know how to handle a big handsome fellow like me.

  • If you would like to meet Kiefer, please fill out our online application. This is the starting point in adopting from SCGSR. We strive to keep our website current within 24 hours. If you see a dog on our site, it is most likely available. The more information you give us about your dog experience, your home, your fence, children and other pets, the better we can do to match you with one of our dogs. Keep in mind that we may be working with prior applicants.

  • Our adoption donations are tax deductible and range from $300 to $500. Dogs will be spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations, and in most instances they will be microchipped. To those big hearted people willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems, we will work with you on adoption donation amounts.

  • The adoption process involves an application, a telephone interview, a meeting with our dogs and then a home and fence check. In certain cases photos of your house and yard may be substituted for a home check.

We had to show this tail!

4.08.08: KIEFER NEARLY LOST HIS LIFE TODAY! Kiefer is a gorgeous one year old boy who was found stray. The shelter made one last call to SCGSR today to save Kiefer, other rescues had refused him, they had decided he had "severe" deformity of his back legs. The shelter supervisor made it clear: if SCGSR didn't take Kiefer today, his life was lost. We couldn't let a one year old puppy die without having x-rays and a vet evaluation. Turns out Keifer's hips are perfect! He has a bit of bowing in his tibias which makes him a little knock kneed. But certainly this beautiful puppy didn't deserve to die, and he's got a long and happy life ahead of him!

Contributions from you, our supporters, allowed us to properly evaluate Kiefer and save his life. Please make a contribution to help us continue this important work - help save lives.
