IMPORTANT-SAFETY FIRST!
Fast facts can be used as a guide to a dog's temperament, however every dog is an individual and will react to different situations in a unique manner. Although we do our best to evaluate a dog's temperament, we have not seen every dog in every possible situation. Please approach any unfamiliar dog with caution, particularly when you have children with you. Always ask an adoption counselor for guidance when interacting with dogs at adoption events or handlers for guidance with dogs in any situation, anywhere. Remember, safety first!

Maddie
Maddie is one of dora games
Juno's pups, named by a generous supporter of SCGSR after watching her on Ustream. Now just over five months of age, she's always been one of the more outgoing pups in the bunch. She's smart, affectionate and likes to please. She's the kind of dog that will take charge if allowed and will do well with someone who is a little more experienced around dogs. She's learning to ride really well in the car and likes going places and meeting new people. At home, she's alert and attentive and will let you know if she hears something. She's a natural at housetraining and enjoys playing with her littermates and other foster dogs, as well as the humans in her foster home. She would love to play with you.
Juno and her eleven tiny babies came to Southern California German Shepherd Rescue through a plea from the shelter. Animal control offices had gone to a deserted home at the request of neighbors, and found a young German Shepherd abandoned and starving, trapped in the yard. They also found that she had 11 tiny babies, no older than a day or two. SCGSR volunteers generously agreed to take in Juno and her babies and help raise them and bring Juno back to good health. Juno and her babies saga has been streamed live at Ustream.com since they first entered foster care. We've had puppy lullabies, puppy bedtime stories and puppy naming ceremonies live on camera! Juno and her puppies are a web sensation!
If you would like to meet Maddie, please fill out our online application. This is the starting point in adopting from SCGSR. We strive to keep our website current within 24 hours. If you see a dog on our site, it is most likely available. The more information you give us about your dog experience, your home, your fence, children and other pets, the better we can do to match you with one of our dogs. Keep in mind that we may be working with prior applicants.
Our adoption donations are tax deductible and range from $300 to $500. Dogs will be spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations, and in most instances they will be microchipped. To those big hearted people willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems, we will work with you on adoption donation amounts.
The adoption process involves an application, a telephone interview, a meeting with our dogs and then a home and fence check. In certain cases photos of your house and yard may be substituted for a home check.
