Maggie II
This adoreable little nine month old monkey brought herself to funny dora games the attention of SCGSR by escaping multiple times right in front of the faces of two SCGSR volunteers! Several times we put her back in her yard, only to find her on the San Diego Animal Control website the next morning. Records show that she was first adopted from the shelter on Valentines Day, 2009. A romatic gesture from one human toward another maybe, but as these things sometimes work out, not so good for Ms. Maggie. Soon her adopters were bored with her antics, and relegated her to the yard. And which social butterfly that you know would stay in a back yard when its only a matter of brains and agility to get out and go party in your neighborhood? After a few bail out fees, the Valentines gift was as old as that love affair, most likely, and the third time her owners declined to pick her up. Our offers to take Ms. Maggie under our wing and find her a real loving home were taken to heart. So here she is. She positively throws herself at the feet of other dogs, she's energetic and funny, yet very well mannered. She will probably do well in a household with an active breed doggie companion (she seems like a Shepherd/Malinois mix). She'll need a bit of caution when left alone so that she doesn't escape and get hurt, crating for short periods will be good until she realizes she has finally found her home. Although she does like a couch, she is easily convinced to stay on the floor with the other beasts. A very lovely little girl if you are used to smart and active dogs, and can keep her safe and contained and her mind occupied. Please email Tracey for more information.

  • If you would like to meet our Maggie, please fill out our online application. This is the starting point in adopting from SCGSR. We strive to keep our website current within 24 hours. If you see a dog on our site, it is most likely available. The more information you give us about your dog experience, your home, your fence, children and other pets, the better we can do to match you with one of our dogs. Keep in mind that we may be working with prior applicants.

  • Our adoption donations are tax deductible and range from $300 to $500. Dogs will be spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations, and in most instances they will be microchipped. To those big hearted people willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems, we will work with you on adoption donation amounts.

  • The adoption process involves an application, a telephone interview, a meeting with our dogs and then a home and fence check. In certain cases photos of your house and yard may be substituted for a home check.
