Mia
Mia is a very pretty youngster with long hair and a bit of the look of the far North in her. Mia was found stray, and her owners never came for her, which is typical in the shelter where Mia was rescued. Mia was very, very ill when she came to SCGSR. She could barely breath, her lungs were both completely congested. She refused all food and water, for days. When she was forced to eat, her body rejected the food immediately. She spent about three weeks in the hospital, touch-and-go, with the worst case of pneumonia our vet has ever seen. Our vet, Dr. Tugend of VCA Main Street Animal Hospital in San Diego brought Mia through, and her vet tech, Robert, made the difference for Mia. They were at her side for more than two weeks. Mia's companion, Spirit, rescued the same day from the same shelter, heart breakingly lived less than 24 hours. We like to believe a little bit of precious Spirit will stay with Mia her whole life. Mia broke the bank for SCGSR, but just look at the result!
Mia arrived at her foster home and walked right into a herd of German Shepherds. She immediately grabbed the closest toy and hid it from the furry beasts all around her. Mia is just a skeleton under her fur. She refused all food and water for over 10 days, and was on IV fluids, but now she's making up for lost time. Umm Umm chicken seems to make almost anything palatable, even [expensive! premium!] kibble.
We're going to make sure Mia goes to a special home where she's the princess in her castle. In her short life, she's earned royal treatment for the rest of her days.
