Mikey
UPDATE from Mikey 1.13.10: Hi everyone, I'm Mikey, and I am a survivor. I was born in the beginning of September 2009 and I am the only of my litter that lived from a not-so-nice breeder. I came to the rescue just before Thanksgiving, I was very sick and really hungry.

Thanks to funny dora candyland games SCGSR, I am now happy and healthy! I LOVE playing with other doggies, I greet doggies politely and if they'll let me pretend to beat them up, that's pretty much my favorite thing to do. Well I also like chewing on doggies, since I'm teething right now. I love snuggling with humans and have learned that laps are a great place to take a nap. I spent a lot of time when I was sick going to work with my foster mom and everyone at the office helped take care of me. I learned how to ride in cars and walk on a leash early, and I also know all about those elevator thingies, you can't leave your tail in the doors let me tell you! I know how to sit when asked and my foster mom says I'm really easy to train. All I need is my forever home...and something called "neutering". My foster mom promises that will be taken care of soon. I don't even fit in my Santa suit anymore. So, how about it? You wanna come see me?

11.25.09: Mikey is an adorable, friendly and sweet baby who was confiscated by animal control. He was the last of a litter being sold on recycler.com. Pups were being sold too young and they all died except for Mikey.

Mikey was just skin and bones. When he came to SCGSR, he was supposed to be 8 weeks old, but we now know he was born about 9.10.09. He looked like he had never been fed and didn't really know how to eat. He was hospitalized with a kitten to keep him company, a technique sometimes used with single baby animals to comfort them. Mikey's kitten even came home to his foster home until Mikey started to feel better, and Ike has now been adopted. Mikey's legs are shaved where he had IV lines and he's still very thin, but he loves to wear his Santa outfit, it keeps him warm and gets him a lot of lovin.

Only a dog could be treated like Mikey was and still love every person, dog, animal and toy he sees. He greets everyone with a tail wag and a kiss.

Mikey is still fighting an upper respiratory illness and pneumonia, but he's now eating well and a very happy and playful puppy. Mikey would love to have some help paying for his hospital bills, and if you can find it in your heart to help he, he will send you puppy kisses for the holidays! Make a donation to help Mikey now!

  • If you would like to meet Mikey, please fill out our online application. This is the starting point in adopting from SCGSR. We strive to keep our website current within 24 hours. If you see a dog on our site, it is most likely available. The more information you give us about your dog experience, your home, your fence, children and other pets, the better we can do to match you with one of our dogs. Keep in mind that we may be working with prior applicants.

  • Our adoption donations are tax deductible and range from $300 to $500. Dogs will be spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations, and in most instances they will be microchipped. To those big hearted people willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems, we will work with you on adoption donation amounts.

  • The adoption process involves an application, a telephone interview, a meeting with our dogs and then a home and fence check. In certain cases photos of your house and yard may be substituted for a home check.
