SCGSR received a call from the shelter. Otto was deaf and they couldn't place a deaf German Shepherd. We did a little research and decided to go meet Otto. Any doubts we had were erased when this incredibly beautiful young, healthy classic German Shepherd male wiggled over to us, interacted playfully with the female German Shepherd next to him, and basically charmed our socks off.

Once we got Otto into his foster home, we realized that he can hear just fine, when he wants to. He could hear neighbors talking and seems to come to hand claps, whereupon he sits and gives you his paw.

Otto is a real looker, super affectionate with people and LOVES to play with other dogs. He'll steal a toy and try to get the other dogs to chase him. Otto is housebroken and uses a doggie door. He rarely barks, and gets along with dogs big and small. Otto is one of those German Shepherds everyone thinks of when they remember a German Shepherd Dog they've loved. Beautiful and with the best temperament. Otto can be a little shy around big men, but he can be charmed with just a little effort.
