River
SCGSR received a plea to help four German Shepherd puppies who were found soaking wet and filthy dirty abandoned in a rural area during the heavy rain storm. These lucky puppies are now safe and warm and well fed, thanks to a good Samaritan and SCGSR. River is the bruiser of the bunch, his paws are huge, his demeanor calm, loving and sensitive. He's probably close to 35 pounds with the biggest feet we've ever seen.

  • If you would like to meet River, please fill out our online application. This is the starting point in adopting from SCGSR. We strive to keep our website current within 24 hours. If you see a dog on our site, it is most likely available. The more information you give us about your dog experience, your home, your fence, children and other pets, the better we can do to match you with one of our dogs. Keep in mind that we may be working with prior applicants.

  • Our adoption donations are tax deductible and range from $300 to $500. Dogs will be spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations, and in most instances they will be microchipped. To those big hearted people willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems, we will work with you on adoption donation amounts.

  • The adoption process involves an application, a telephone interview, a meeting with our dogs and then a home and fence check. In certain cases photos of your house and yard may be substituted for a home check.
