Roman
Roman is a very large, spectacular example of a German bred working black sable. We find Roman so amazing, we even took a close up of his incredible feet, which you can see below!

He weighs 80 pounds and is at least 10 to 15 pounds underweight, possibly 20 pounds. We have an idea that Roman got a very good start in life and someone must have paid an awful lot for him as a puppy, but somehow he fell on hard times. He's been laying on hard cement surfaces, he has calouses in revealing places, and he hasn't been getting enough to eat. Roman was filthy when we brought him under our wing, his coat had caulk in it, and some of his coat had to be cut off. We suspect Roman was stollen and someone tried to use him for a guard dog. But like most German Shepherds, he looks the part but is just a big baby doll.

Roman also came to us with a very bad cold and we're taking the best care of him. He's kind and tolerant with kids, other dogs, puppies that have a crush on him, and possibly even cats. All this while not feeling well!

We believe Roman is about three years old. He looks very sad right now, as if he just doesn't expect much from life. We are committed to cheering him up and to finding the very best of homes for Roman, where his glory can shine through and he can be comfortable, content, active and well loved.
