IMPORTANT-SAFETY FIRST!
Fast Facts can be used as a guide to a dog's temperament, however every dog is an individual and will react to different situations in a unique manner. Although we do our best to evaluate a dog's temperament, we have not seen every dog in every possible situation. Please approach any unfamiliar dog with caution, particularly when you have children with you. Always ask an adoption counselor for guidance when interacting with dogs at adoption events or handlers for guidance with dogs in any situation, anywhere. Remember, safety first!

Ronin
If there was ever an example of good dora games
a perfect purebred German shepherd puppy this is it; an instant favorite among our volunteers and even our vet. Ronin, whose namesake is a Samurai warrior who lost his master and the basis of a cool Robert De Niro movie, amazingly fought his way back from a severe degloving injury to his chest and right shoulder after apparently being hit by a car at just 12 weeks of age. His injury was so severe that the surgeon originally estimated he might need as many as 20 surgeries and possibly skin grafts to recover. See Ronin's pre-surgery injury and first surgical procedure here. Warning: these photos are very graphic photos of Ronin's injury and the surgical procedures it took to get him where he is today.
Two surgeries and lots of post-op care later he is fully healed and ready to become the companion that your family will be talking about for generations. Ronin will no doubt grow up to be a large, rugged and handsome German shepherd. One look into his eyes and you can see the look of nobility, intelligence, alertness, and eagerness to please that are so characteristic of the breed. Hes easy to train, not timid, shy or nervous, mostly housebroken and unbelievably cute. Hes very sociable with people, children and other dogs and already likes to ride in the car. Hell bark if he sees a cat but most likely because hes trying to figure out what kind of puppy it is.

If you would like to meet Ronin, please fill out our online application. This is the starting point in adopting from SCGSR. We strive to keep our website current within 24 hours. If you see a dog on our site, it is most likely available. The more information you give us about your dog experience, your home, your fence, children and other pets, the better we can do to match you with one of our dogs. Keep in mind that we may be working with prior applicants.
Our adoption donations are tax deductible and range from $300 to $500. Dogs will be spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations, and in most instances they will be microchipped. To those big hearted people willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems, we will work with you on adoption donation amounts.
The adoption process involves an application, a telephone interview, a meeting with our dogs and then a home and fence check. In certain cases photos of your house and yard may be substituted for a home check.
