Simba
At just 10 weeks of age, little Simba found himself lost and alone. You wonder how that can happen, right? Unfortunately puppies Simba's age and even younger are often found deserted.
A family found Simba, and probably thought they had great luck, finding a baby pure bred German Shepherd puppy. Simba's black and red German coloring is stunning enough on its own. But soon it became apparent that Simba was very ill. He stopped eating. He was so sick, the family who found him decided to take him to the shelter. Lucky for Simba he was found in San Diego County, where we have the very best shelters, shelters who work with private animal rescue groups to get care for needy dogs instead of the grim alternative faced by animals in other counties.
The shelter thought Simba's condition might be dire, and they called SCGSR to help him. Even though it was the Thanksgiving weekend, our volunteers coordinated getting Simba out of the shelter and into foster care.
Although Simba really perked up from the treatment he got in the shelter, what really makes him happiest is hanging out with his new foster brother! Simba seems just like any happy (although way too skinny) puppy now. SCGSR will have an examination done by our own vet to get Simba on the road to good health. Simba is looking for a home with at least one other dog to keep him company. You can see, Simba's little baby ears are standing so strong, the still-soft tips are falling over backwards. Too cute! We believe with proper nutrition they'll be perfect. We'll update you with more on his personality shortly!
If you would like to meet Simba, please fill out our online application. This is the starting point in adopting from SCGSR. All of our dogs are in foster care. We strive to keep our website current within 24 hours. If you see a dog on our site, it is most likely available. The more information you give us about your dog experience, your home, your fence, children and other pets, the better we can do to match you with one of our dogs. Keep in mind that we may be working with prior applicants.
Our adoption donations are tax deductible and range from $300 to $500. Dogs will be spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations, and in most instances they will be microchipped. To those big hearted people willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems, we will work with you on adoption donation amounts.
We do not have an adoption facility. All of our dogs are in foster care. The adoption process involves an application, a telephone interview, a meeting with our dogs and then a home and fence check. In certain cases photos of your house and yard may be substituted for a home check.
