Zeus
A caring shelter worker begged us to help Zeus. He nearly lost his life due to overcrowding at the shelter and we had to work fast to save him. We have no room and its right before the holidays and impossible to find boarding, but how could we say no to this beautiful German Shepherd? Somebody will need to move over and share their kennel over Christmas because Zeus is here!
Update 12.19.07: Zeus is perfect! He's very tall and
lanky, and extremely photogenic as you can see! Zeus's guardian angel, Maddie, drove all the way to San Bernardino just to pick him up. After a very long ride to his foster home, we learned that this incredibly sweet dog had never been inside a home before. He stood at the entry while the other dogs ran in and out and just couldn't believe he was going to be allowed in. Then when he decided to take a chance, he ran right into the linoleum monster, that slippery stuff that makes your legs go every which way. Being as big as scooby doo doesn't help when you're trying to skate across the floor to get a cookie!
Zeus's foster family just let him watch until he got comfortable enough to follow the pack around. He saw himself in the mirror and saw a television for the first time, and had an encounter with the doggie door. We won't tell you what we think about people who isolate these beautiful souls and don't give them the attention and love they deserve, but we will tell you we're madly in love with Zeus and he's going to the best home we can possibly find!
If you would like to meet Zeus, please fill out our online application. This is the starting point in adopting from SCGSR. We strive to keep our website current within 24 hours. If you see a dog on our site, it is most likely available. The more information you give us about your dog experience, your home, your fence, children and other pets, the better we can do to match you with one of our dogs. Keep in mind that we may be working with prior applicants.
Our adoption donations are tax deductible and range from $300 to $500. Dogs will be spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations, and in most instances they will be microchipped. To those big hearted people willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems, we will work with you on adoption donation amounts.
The adoption process involves an application, a telephone interview, a meeting with our dogs and then a home and fence check. In certain cases photos of your house and yard may be substituted for a home check.
